Hi My Name is Amanda and I'm a carb-a-holic

So this weekend...not too bad..not so great....to include both pizza and beer. Yes pizza- BUT in my defense I didn't order it- it was at a birthday party and I ONLY ate the thin crust. I know- it's shameful. I DID NOT eat the cake though and that was a big step because I was once a sugar-a-holic as well. Umm so today:

PreWod: Banana, coffee with 1/2 and 1/2
Breakfast: LaraBar (I know that's not really a breakfast but I was on a mission to clean the house)
Snack: a pizza of leftover pizza my neighbor sent home- it's EVIL....I put water on the rest and threw it in the trash...that's not normal is it?
Lunch: Tuna; 2 tsp mayo; pickles, onions, and tomatoes.
Dinner: White Chicken Chili (with a few beans but I will eat around them)

Is this a Paleo Anonymous??? (26 Sep)

Hello, My name is Pete, and I haven't been 100% Paleo faithful... No excuses, I just like pasta, and when the kids leave pasta on their plates at night... Well, I may eat a few pieces... okay, maybe a couple of forkfuls. Even after sitting in on the Nutrition portion of the Level 1 Seminar, I still ate some of Abby's Tortellini last night.

Today:
PreWOD: Banana, coffee
PostWOD: Advocare Shake, Beef Jerky, and Honeydew
Snack 1: Two Hard boiled eggs and apple
Lunch: Chicken Breast, mashed cauliflower (like mashed potatoes), carrots
Snack 2: Apple, nuts and dried fruit.
Snack 3: Mariani Bar
Dinner: Beef and Vegetable soup.
Snack 4: More soup, almond butter

Chris - Is it October yet?

Hello, my name is Chris and I'd like to thank you for welcoming me to Paleo Cheater's Anonymous. The problem all started when I got sick and "had" to eat bland non-paleo foods to get feeling better, now I just can't seem to go even 1 day 100% strict. My overall meals have been OK, but it's the in between stuff that's getting me. I also just don't seem to plan well for when I'm out and about.

I'll try harder. Try.

9/25
Post WOD/Breakfast - Smoothie (coconut milk, pineapple, 1/2 banana, ice) - pretty tasty actually - 1/2 banana with almond butter

Hello, my name is Michele and I fell off the wagon this weekend...

More to come - have to go to dinner now!

And when I fall, I fall HARD AND FAST AND A REALLY LONG WAY! At least I'm good at that - wait, that's a bad thing right?

So here goes my rant/excuse/please forgive me session.

The weekend officially started on Friday when Paul and I got up and packed for our races this weekend. He was doing the Sprint Triathlon and I was doing the Aqua-Velo (swim and bike) at the Chesapeake Man Endurance Festival in Cambridge, MD. Lucky for us, my friend owns a condo right in Cambridge so lodging was not an issue at all. First we had to drive to Linden to drop off 2 of the dogs, we decided to take the puppy with us as we knew he would play nicely with Tina's guide dog, Tekla. In the rain we head to Linden and drop off the dogs with no issues, although we did end up stopping at Tractor Supply to buy a heater - but that's a whole other story. Then we head to Alexandria to pick up Tina and Tekla. Great, we are all loaded up and ready to leave Alexandria by 2pm. I mean, it's only a couple of hours over to Cambridge, right? Punch the address in the GPS and it says we'll get there at 6pm. WTH, I know it's not that far. Paul is driving and I am reading the athlete guide for the race to make sure we know all the ins and outs. Then it hits me, the GPS (which is new) must be set to avoid toll roads - OMG, it has us going UP to Baltimore to come back DOWN to Cambridge so we don't have to go over the Bay Bridge. But alas we are already pretty far north on 95. I reprogram the GPS and it takes 2 HOURS off our arrival time, thank goodness. So of course the next logical thing to do is stop and eat! Here's where my first "indiscretion" came into play - we stopped at Arby's. YES, I could have had a grilled chicken breast or two, but NO I went all out - - not just the roast beef sandwich I had to have the fake cheese spread on it! OH BOY, so it begins. On the road again and headed the correct way, over the Bay Bridge. Well, at least I thought it was the right way to go. Apparently not since it took us 2 1/2 hours to get over the bridge. It was pouring, the toll booths were backed up to the Annapolis split and they only had 2 lanes open on the bridge. UUUGGGGHHHH! We finally got to packet pickup for the race at 7:30pm, a mere 5 1/2 hours after leaving Alexandria. There was a bit of a cluster at packet pickup so once we finally got that sorted and headed to the park to rack our bikes it was 8:30pm. Bike inspection, bike racking and we are finally headed to the condo - thank goodness it was less than 2 miles away. Oh wait, the stupid gate code doesn't seem to work. I'll spare you the details, but it took us a while to get in. By now it is 9:30pm and we haven't had dinner. What? There's a Domino's across the street? Yes, I will eat pizza for dinner. Finally got to bed about 11:30pm.

Race day started with a 4:30am wake up. Breakfast was some leftover egg casserole and a cup of coffee. I think I ate something else before the race started but can't really remember. The port-a-potty line was LONG and by the time we got our wetsuits on it was time to get in the water. Not that you all care, but the swim was horrible for me. I am not a great swimmer, but I am comfortable in the water and usually don't have to put a lot of effort into keeping up with Tina. But today was a totally different story. My wetsuit, which was new, was too big so I was dragging some extra water with me, quite a bit of extra I think. Then the jellyfish, lovely lovely jellyfish. Started with one across the ankle, yea that burns but it's when they end up draped across your nose and chin that you REALLY notice them. And seeing the really big ones right under us didn't thrill me either. Finally out of the water, I was so out of it Paul had to yell at me to snap me back.

On to the bike, I knew I had to start my nutrition right away or I would really be in trouble. The bike was 112 miles and I was planning on it taking us about 6 1/2 hours. Gatorade, bonk breakers, gels and various other gooey sweet nutrition seemed to work. The bike actually went really well, even considering the flooded road we had to ride through - twice. We really pushed it at the end and passed a lot of people.

Back to the condo to shower and then find some good dinner - seafood of course, we were on the shore. But alas, it was not to be. Tina's dog (who has serious separation issues) broke out of her kennel (literally ripped the door off our kennel) and trashed the condo. She had peed, pooped and spilled black coffee all over the white bar stool and white carpet! So for the next 2 hours I sat on the floor cleaning! In the meantime Tina goes to take a shower and asks about hot water - CRAP I totally forgot you have to turn the hot water on when you get there! Cold showers for everyone!! Finally on the road home at 7:30pm. Quick stop in Easton for some bbq and home at 11pm. I actually didn't do too bad at the bbq place - beef brisket, collard greens and fries.

We'll get into Sunday later................

Amanda Sept 23

Ok...so I'm disclaimer-ing myself too...today hasn't been so great. I really haven't eaten much but it's not been so good. I have a stupid double ear infection & sinus infection again so I just feel crappy and not like eating
Breakfast: coffee with creamer; banana; 2 pieces of bacon
Lunch: I ate with Cade at lunch and promised him I'd eat what they had....I thought it was taco day - but apparently I was wrong - it was waffle day. Yes waffles. Does anyone else find issue with the fact they serve waffles as a lunch item....sugary, carbohydraty, deliciousness that is horrible for us? Anywho- we were given 2 waffles and 2 sausages- I ate one waffle, one sausage and gave the other sausage to Cade. This now has opened a whole other door of concern for me about school lunches...but I won't bore you with that now.
Snack: had some guacomole with (gasp) tortilla chips and a little cheese. I've fallen off the wagon. Promise to do better for dinner.

Michele's Disclaimer - 9/22

No CFW today.

Hubby brought me coffee in bed - if that isn't love I don't know what is!

Breakfast: 2 eggs and 1 and a half pieces of bacon, V8
Snack: UMMMMM, don't think I had one
Lunch: Went to Mexican with the guys at work. Ate more chips than I intended to! Ordered taco carnitas with corn tortillas, ate one of the tortillas then dumped the rest of the filling on my plate and put salsa and guac on it. So not TOO bad.
Pre-swim snack: Mariani bar and a cup of tea
Post swim snack: Clif bar and a Kind bar (I am SO HUNGRY after I swim)
Dinner: Grilled italian sausage with peppers and onions. We at SO LATE (because of work stuff) I didn't even bother to make anything else with it. Although I did have an oiler can of Foster's Bitters!!

No dessert or snack tonight. It's bed time. Have a million things to do tomorrow and have to head to MD for a race on Saturday. I am so NOT ready for this race! :-(

Chris - Thursday 9/22

Breakfast/Post WOD - Smoothie made with 2 scoops choc protein, ice, almond milk and banana ... it was pretty good ... looking for any smoothie suggestions (just got a new blender specifically for smoothies for a quick breakfast)
Snack - Oops, missed snack time since I was chasing a FAST little girl down the aisle's of Wally World.
Lunch - Chick-fil-a drive-thru - Southwest Chicken Salad (they forgot to give me dressing so I ended up topping it with salsa when I got home, nuggets, and I have to admit, I had a couple of Abigail's fries. Oops
Snack - No snack again ... I ate nuggets for lunch, but didn't get to eat salad until 2:30, so it was basically my snack
Dinner - Cooking up some spaghetti with sauce and ground beef (pasta for kids and spaghetti squash for Pete and I). I have to admit the sauce is from a jar because I haven't made any homemade sauce in a while and my freezer has no reserves. :( oh, and a salad
Snack - I know something will be calling my name later ...

BTW - Just wanted to let you know that even though I really wanted pizza last night, I had a frozen paleo dinner instead. Pizza would have tasted better. I'm feeling burned out in the food idea department. I'm so tired of having to plan 2 meal plans every night (1 meal is hard enough) that I'm just burned out.

Amanda Sept 22

No WOD for me today:( I also feel pretty crappy - I am pretty sure I still have or have another ear infection. Go to the doc in the am but have lots of ear pain and I feel like my balance is off...which is weird.

Breakfast: 2 eggs; coffee with creamer; 1 piece of bacon
Snack: at bible study I had a small piece of the egg casserole (had some cheese and bacon in it); and fruit
Lunch: on the go- got chick-fil-a nuggets with buffalo sauce and fruit cup. I oddly enough am no longer tempted to get fries. My biggest temptation is wanting to order pizza...go figure.
Dinner: Spaghetti Squash with ground beef and sauce (not homemade)...thank you Chris for talking me out of pizza....but I still want it.
Snack: a little wine...which made me feel worse so then I just went to bed!

Pete 22nd Sept

PreWOD: Banana, two handfuls of almonds, and coffee

WOD was tough this morning. For some reason the cold front that was suppose to cool things off here, made it hot and humid this morning. I was dragging, and having a hard time breathing. The air was thick!

PostWOD/Breakfast: Steve's Original Paleo Beef jerky (1 stick), coffee, apple sauce pouch, protein shake.
Snack1: Apple, nuts and Steve's original Paleokit Beef Jerky, Coconut, strawberries (surprisingly good!)

Breakfast: 2 eggs scrambled with sausage, onions and red pepper, V8
Snack: Coffee
Lunch: Same as last night's dinner but I added red pepper and left off the Greek yogurt

Dessert: I'm thinking about a couple of squares of dark chocolate

No more CFW this week for me. :-(

Pete, 21st Sep

First day in awhile that Chris and I worked out together. We have to figure out what we will do when we have to both utilize the squat rack. I guess I can start earlier when we have to use it, and then Chris can fall in on it. Needless to say, I was running late this morning to get out the door, and I was so grateful to Chris that she made some eggs for me to eat on the way. Thank you!

PreWOD: Banana, Almonds, and coffee
PostWOD/Breakfast: 3 scrambled eggs with 4 TBS of guacamole, and 4 slices of ham, coffee
Snack1: Apple, and nuts and dried fruit.

Snack2: Carrots and hummus, beef jerky
Snack3: Marinani Bar

K....so no CFW in the am for the rest of the week for me- will hit an evening class tonight and then the 9:30 on Friday. Thursday is a wash b/c Bill has duty. Boo:(

Breakfast: 2 eggs scrambled; 2 pieces of bacon
Snack: forgot to eat a snack- it was a hectic morning
Lunch: Usana Shake with 2 tbsp peanut butter...in the car taking kids to the doctor (Cade got sent home early for complaining his mouth hurt?!?! but thank goodness neither has strep) so anywho...at the conclusion of any dr appt where both my children behave (and they got flu shots too) we hit the starbucks drive through for a "treat" (aka: bribery):
Snack: Grande pumpkin spice latte with soy milk (I couldn't resist)
Dinner: leftover chicken thighs, salad and leftover green beans.
MAYBE some wine but I've actually been pretty good about not having any lately. Shocking, I know:)

Tuesday, September 20, 2011

Yeah, Chris is back!

So glad you are feeling better Chris.

No CFW for me today, it was a heavy leg workout and I really need to save my legs for the race this weekend.

On the way to work: Smoothie (made in my new blender) with almond milk, pineapple juice, whey protein and ice.
Got to work late so I didn't really have breakfast. I think I snacked on some carrots and hummus.
Lunch: 2 turkey wraps - romaine lettuce leaves stuffed with hummus, pico de gallo, turkey and avocado. And I had an orange too.
Snack: Sweet and spicy nuts
Dinner: I used the leftover short ribs from last night and shredded the meat and seasoned it up for tacos. I added black beans to them (yea, I know) then made a taco salad with lettuce, meat/bean mixture, guac, pico and a little greek yogurt.

Cooking up some breakfast sausage right now. Maybe I'll have sausage and egg wraps tomorrow - yummy! Geez, do I ever stop thinking about food?

Chris - 9/20 - I'm back baby!!

OK ... so after 5 days of some bug, I finally woke up feeling mostly better. I haven't eaten paleo recently, and I'm not about to confess all my ugly eating... :) However, I will tell you that I swear that harris Teeter's made to order sub I ate today for lunch was what truly made me feel better! I know, carb whore (copying Michelle), but damn it tasted good. My stomach still isn't 100%, but I I feel so much better and have actually prepared dinner and cleaned the house (most of it) ... :) Kudo's to Pete for handling the kids and everything for 5 days with the talent of a pro! :)

We sure missed CFW this past weekend. Lesson learned - next FBG, find babysitter for the entire weekend and make a roadtrip to CFW!!!

Amanda Sept 20

PreWod: Banana; coffee with creamer
Breakfast: 1 egg (we ran out); pico; 1/4 cup guacamole. I've started measuring everything b/c I'm confused as to why the scale still says the same number after 3 weeks of more strict then the last time we did this challenge. Anywho....
Snack: Apple with 1 tbsp peanut butter
Lunch: Sushi (I know...it was brown rice) & shrimp; 2 pieces deli ham
Snack: Apple with 1 tbsp peanut butter

Temptations......the weekend seemed full of them!

I too had a weekend full of temptations..............post FGB I did have some hummus and pita bread and a little pizza, and of course the smoothie!! Then I went home and made Paleo tuna fish sandwiches. Tuna mixed with guacamole, pico de gallo and a little mustard and made sandwiches out of lettuce leaves. It was really good but I did eat it a little close to my soccer game! Then Saturday night I went to a birthday party for my friend, who by the way is an AWESOME cook. So I knew there would be a lot of really good food and decided ahead of time it would be my cheat night. I made a deal with my husband that I would drive TO the party and he would drive home, so I could drink. Heck, might as well go all the way on a cheat night right? The party started at 3pm and we didn't get there till 6pm because of my game, so some of the good food was already gone. I was quite pleased with myself as I managed to eat almost all Paleo. She had some pulled pork and guac and pico......yummy, 2 plates of that. Then she had a vegetarian dish made of zucchini, yellow squash, corn and topped with polenta. I didn't eat the polenta but it was impossible to pick out the corn, not to mention it would have looked rude. So besides the "several" beers I had it wasn't too bad of a cheat.

I already posted my Sunday going ons......

Today - 19 Sep

Post CFW: Mariani bar and coffee x2 (with heavy cream)
Breakfast: 2 eggs scrambled with turkey and tomato
Snack: Sweet and spicy pecans
Lunch: Well, the guy at work lost a bet so he owed me lunch - off to Hibachi Grill. First plate was mongolian style with shrimp, scallops, bean sprouts, zucchini, cabbage and mushrooms. Second plate was salted shrimp (no breading) and some clams in a black bean sauce. Dessert was a plate full of fruit.
Dinner: I put short ribs in the crock pot this morning with some red wine, tomatoes, cilantro and seasonings. They came out super tender and I have so many left over I'll be able to turn them into Paleo tacos tomorrow night. I sauteed some zucchini and yellow squash to go with it. Of course I had to drink the rest of the wine that I had used on the ribs. :-)

Dessert: My big event tonight was the purchase of a blender thingy that you can make smoothies in and then drink right out of the bottle. So I made a smoothie with unsweetened vanilla almond milk, my homemade greek yogurt, frozen peaches and honey. It's quite yummy and filling!!

Pete, 19 Sept

OK, no excuses for not publishing anything for the past few days. I have to admit, I have eaten like crap the past few days. Cheating... I have taken it to a new low. We had friends over on Friday night, grilled out, and I ate paleo all the way up to the chocolate eclairs. Abby ate half of one, and there was a half left... GONE! I think that over the course of 2 days, I had 2 1/2 of those. I also had some of the kids pasta, cheesy kind that I made for them. Other than those two things that I can remember, I pretty much ate close to paleo. I may have snuck something here and there.

I have to give huge kudos, I don't know how she does it with the kids. I had to take care of the kids most of the weekend. Chris really was under the weather with the stomach virus. I have to give it to her, she gutted out FGB6, I was very proud of her. Most people would have just said that they would not do it, if they were battling Nausea... 201, WAY TO GO CHRIS!

OKAY, today:
PreWOD: Banana, almonds, coffee (Did I mention how I hate thrusters?)
Breakfast: Eggs with ham and salsa, bacon. I was a piggy because I made some for Abby, she didn't eat... so I ate them. (Abby is sick as well...)
Lunch: 2 slices of Ham, ran through McD's for some nuggets on the way to work.
Snack1: Trail mix, apple
Snack2: Beef Jerky, LaraBar, coffee
Dinner: Caesar Salad, bread (shhh!)
Snack3: Chris' leftover salad with steak and larabar

Amanda Sept 19

Ok...so first sorry for no posts this weekend...we were away, my cell phone died, I forgot my charger - so needless to say it just didn't happen. I did eat well though (I thought)- 95% paleo, a few minor slip ups but with the amount of temptations, I controlled myself quite well. My mom loves through cooking and baking and it's all BAD, none paleo stuff! I had to totally steer clear of the desserts or that could have been a disaster. I did have a a few bites of potato salad, some blue corn chips & hummus...

Today:
PreWod: Banana & coffee
Breakfast: more coffee, 3 eggs, couple tbsp guac, 3 pieces of bacon
Lunch: Usana Shake
Snack: Carrots and hummus (I know) ...it's really hard to find stuff you can "dip" in
Dinner: Meatloaf (everyday paleo cookbook) and butternut squash roasted

Sunday, September 18, 2011

Michele's still looking for breakfast....

So today started with coffee, then it was off to track the dogs so I ate a Mariani bar on the way to the field. Then we tried to go to brunch but everywhere was BUSY and we didn't have time to wait. So we went home, but since I paid for, but forgot my eggs at CFW yesterday I was struggling with what I could have. I didn't feel like making pancakes, soooooooooo I ended up eating 3 slices of bacon and a red pepper. Then it was off to ride with my blind athlete. It was a super easy ride so all I had was some sport beans. After the ride I had another Mariani bar.

For dinner I broiled a skirt steak that I had been marinating in southwest seasonings. Some mashed cauliflower, roasted asparagus, avocado and pico de gallo accompanied it.

Snack was an orange and then some sweet and spicy nuts with a latte!

Chris - Where am I?

OK, so I haven't posted in a while, but mainly because I don't have a lot to tell in the food department. Since Thursday I've been feeling very sick ... extreme nausea, achy, headache etc ... I've taken a nap for 3 days in a row!!! Thursday/Friday, I could barely stomach anything, so I was very nervous about FGB, but managed to squeeze a 201 score out, even though I had only eaten eggs for breakfast!! After FGB, all my symptoms came back and I could barely move last night. I went to bed at 5pm and got up at 7am. Today I've been able to stomach a little more, but not too much. Needless to say, I have not been eating paleo. Paleo big meals make me want to gag right now.

Hopefully I'll be back to writing a good foor diary soon, but for now, I'm eating anything I can stomach, and if that's cheerios, then it's cheerios.

Breakfast, what's that? Michele doesn't know!

So this morning turned into more of a snack-fest than having actual meals.

After waking up on my own (no alarm), my wonderful hubby brought me coffee with heavy cream in bed! Ahhhhhh, heaven!

On the way to work I had a Mariani bar and an apple.

At work I had another cup of coffee (with 1/2 and 1/2) and then I busted out the carrots, hummus and tzatziki!

Lunch: We went to Chik-Fila and I got the grilled chicken and fruit salad and had them put an extra grilled chicken breast on it. I did take the cheese off (because it was in one clump and was easy to get off), So I started to put the dressing on (berry balsamic vinaigrette) when I looked at the ingredients - OMG, the THIRD ingredient was SUGAR. Seriously, why do you need sugar in a salad dressing??? So I used a little bit of it - it was already on my salad. I also ate the tiny pack of granola that came with the salad.

Snack: Mariani bar and coffee
Another snack: Nut/Raisin mix

Dinner: Another photo worthy dinner! Apple/bacon/onion stuffed pork chops and butternut squash mashed with a little honey. Perfectly paired with a glass of Sangria!

Amanda Sept 16

Um so I don't really remember now what I ate yesterday...although I think most of the was paleo, I definitely did not eat enough yesterday and was hungry when I went to bed. So today:

PostWod: Protein Shake and Banana and Coffee (with 1/2 and 1/2)
Breakfast: more coffee; sausage and scrambled eggs
Lunch: Was running behind from being at Bethesda this am....got a salad from McDonalds (really not good at all)- with grilled chicken - yes I ate the cheese b/c it's annoying to pick off and there were little chipish type thingys on it too.
Snack: couple handfuls of Paleo granola; V8

Michele's Traveling Circus

I had to go NY for the day today and traveling always poses an issue when eating Paleo. I didn't have any chicken breasts cooked to take with me so I was hoping all would go ok!!

Drive to the airport: Mariani bar and coffee with heavy cream
At the airport: YES, you CAN eat Paleo at the airport. I had a HUGE omelet with bacon, onion, tomato and mushroom. I even substituted the potatoes and toast for a bowl of fresh fruit, and of course, more coffee
Lunch: This is where things started to go awry. My co-worker in NY, God love him, picked me up and as usual we got turned around leaving the airport. I have yet to figure out why he gets lost EVERY time we go somewhere - I mean he did grow up in the Bronx, just sayin! We went to the Federal Building to take care of a few things and by now it was time for lunch. It became apparent I was not going to get to eat before our 2pm appointment so I snacked on a couple of Mariani bars. We walked to the place we needed to be (it rained on us, but don't worry I didn't melt - HAHA) and by the time we got back it was time to head back to the airport. I had a handful of nut/raisin mix.
At the airport: Bypassing the Mickie D's I found a place with a cobb salad with balsamic vinaigrette dressing. I kinda thought that wasn't going to be enough, there was only 4 very small pieces of chicken in it, so I grabbed a bag of kettle cooked chips to go with it. I only ate some of the chips, but polished off my salad.
On the plane I had high hopes of having a soda as I haven't been feeling well the past couple of days and thought that might help. I don't know, I'm grasping at straws here. I just don't want to get sick. But of course the weather had rolled in so we sat on the runway at LaGuardia for 45 minutes before we took off then the flight was a bit rough so they didn't have any drink service. Fine, I'll just drink my water and snack on a few more chips.
Dinner: Got home about 7:30 and Paul and I headed to Glory Day's for dinner. I had the flat iron steak with sweet potato fries and a caesar salad. It also came with onion straws that I ate because they were so good!

Now I'm off to bed and hope I feel better tomorrow. Can't be sick for FGB this weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!

What Pete ate on the 15th...

I find that I am hungry all the time. I am constantly snacking on stuff in my lunch bag. I almost think that people are wondering if I have a problem.

PreWOD: LaraBar and coffee
Breakfast: Eggs, with peppers, guacamole, and bacon... plus coffee.
Snack1: Kind Bar, beef jerky (paleo kind... different and good.)
Snack2: Carrots and Hummus.
Lunch: 2 Chicken breasts from Monday's dinner and more carrots.

Wednesday, September 14, 2011

Snack - Coffee, banana, almond butter and Lara Bar
Lunch - Meatloaf and Sweet Potato leftovers - YUM!
Snack - Kind bar and Paleo beef stick (from www.stevesoriginal. com)

I'm not sure what came over me...it was if I was possessed- it was really good too:/ BUT I did smash (out of anger) the remaining contents of the chip bag and throw them away. Note to self: do not buy chips of any kind, for anyone, for any reason.
and BTW I just crashed on the couch for like 1 1/2 hours...apparently I am tired.

Lunch: This is what an old co-worker of mine would have called "Bachelor's Stew". Basically you take whatever is left in the fridge and throw it together, which is just what I did. So I ended up with a leftover Italian sausage link with sauteed mushrooms, onion, tomato and eggplant. It was good, even though I didn't really feel like eating in the first place! I am not feeling particularly well today - feel like I could crawl into bed and sleep for about 10 hours.
Snack: 2 spoonfuls of honey (thought this might make me feel better) then made a BIG cup of tea and put more honey in it!
Post swim: Mariani bar and nut/raisin mix - I did fell better after the swim.
Dinner: Hamburger wrapped in lettuce with onion and spicy mustard, bread and butter pickles (they have cane sugar in them so not truly Paleo), grape tomatoes and half an orange pepper and one O'Doul's

Now I need to go to bed cause I have an early flight tomorrow but I am HOOKED watching the Games!!!!!

Pete's Food intake for the 14th

Chris - 9/13

Breakfast - Eggs, peppers and bacon, coffee
Snack - OK ... I treated myself to a Chai Tea. Must have this AM. Also had a "Kind" bar - seems similar to Mariani bars.
Lunch - Turkey, spinach, little bit of cheese, guacamole lettuce wraps
Post WOD - Abby woke at 5:35am this morning, so I held her while I was the cheerleader for Pete and Julie (our neighbor), then had to WOD on my own during naptime. Protein shake and a bowl of strawberries.
Snack - Banana
Dinner - Meatloaf (from everyday paleo), Brussel Sprouts with Bacon (to die for! - Everyday Paleo), and mashed sweet potatoes (seasoned with a little butter, sea salt and 100% maple syrup). I was so full when I was done!!! I think it's the first time in a long time that I was actually really full!
Snack - Not sure yet, but probably one of my new paleo treats that just came in the mail today - either a Brownie or a Mac Attack Cookie (www.paleotreats.com) I'll let you know if they are any good!!

Amanda 13 Sept....I won't ramble today:)

PostWod: Paleo banana bread; coffee
Breakfast: Usana Shake with 1 tbsp Peanut butter
Snack: hard boiled egg
Lunch: Salad with tomatoes, cuks, basil, and a tiny bit of mozzarella ... and it made my stomach hurt...so I guess that punishment for having cheese; some left over chicken breast
Snack: Trail mix with raisins, cranberries, almonds and wasabi peas
Dinner: chicken breast, cranberries, walnuts, and a dash of mayo (to make it moist); lettuce; a few scoops of guac
Snack:....can you guess?

Michele's Still Resisting Dessert - 9/13/11

Today's goal is to make sure I drink my water! Looked at the clock yesterday at 4:00pm and realized I had not drank any water! NOT GOOD!

Post WOD: Coffee and mariani bar
Breakfast: 2 hard boiled eggs, turkey, V8
Snack: Coffee and mariani bar
Lunch: Lunch today turned into my "cheat" day. This was decided as I looked at the menu at the restaurant we went to. Actually it wasn't that bad. I got the soup and salad bar, so my cheat items were potato salad (German style, so no mayo at least), tuna that had mayo, a spoonful of rice crackers, a hunk of brie and I HAD to have these little crispy won-ton things with my chili (I did not eat the beans)! Otherwise I had salad with tomatoes, cukes, peppers, onions, etc.
**The dessert is almost gone. The guys at the office are actually fighting over it and want me to make another batch. Question is, can I handle the temptation for round 2??

Post bike ride: Some chocolate Balance bar I found in my bag! Oh, I did have some sport beans and a gel on the ride!

Dinner: Had to take a pic of this one cause it looked really nice. And it actually tasted good. Almond crusted, stuffed chicken breasts. Recipe is at I made a few modifications - I didn't have spinach and didn't have time to stop at the commissary so I used kale instead. I also added a little shredded parmesan and asiago cheese. I've noticed quite a few Paleo recipes incorporate cheese!! Also had a salad of mixed greens, orange peppers, tomatoes and onions with a little bit of olive oil, balsamic vinegar and fresh ground pepper (this is becoming my favorite salad dressing.
Snack: The rest of the popcorn from the other night.

OK, so here's MY RANT for the week. I can drink water ALL day, no problem. But at night I want something with flavor. I should probably make some iced tea, but just haven't got around to it. So I've started putting the True Lime powder in my water, it helps but it's just not a glass of wine or a beer! Any and all suggestions welcome.

Pete's Food for 13 Sept

This morning I really needed the coffee. Miles woke up twice last night. One time I went up to his room, and laid with him. He must have had a nightmare. The second time he came down to our room and climbed into bed with us. Chris didn't recall it at all. Funny though, Miles had to climb over her. She was in a dead sleep.

PreWOD: Banana, handful of almonds, and coffee.
Breakfast: (Made by Chris... thank you!) 3 Eggs with peppers and pico de gallo, 3 strips of Bacon, and leftover mashed sweetpotatoes.
Snack1: Apple, 2 slice of ham
Lunch: Chicken breast, sliced turkey (3)
Snack2: Nuts and dried fruit, carrots, beef jerky
Dinner: Meatloaf, mashed sweet potatoes, brussel sprouts with bacon (Yum, Yum, and Yum!!!)
Snack3: Paleo Brownie (1/2 with Chris)

Chris - 9/11 and 9/12

OK ... so I swam my way out of dunkin donuts, McDonalds, Domino's wrappers and I'm bellying up to the computer to confess my eating woes ... just kidding. :) Sorry I haven't let you see inside my lunchbag for the past 2 days. :) It'll be a miracle if I actually remember everything that I ate this past 48 hours, but I'll give it a shot.

Sunday - 9/11
Breakfast - paleo granola with almond milk
Brunch - Large omelet with veggies
Snack - Umm .. a larabar I think (we wnt to beach house to visit friends and the afternoon is a little foggy - not because I had anything else other than 1 bottle of water either)
Dinner - HAD to stop at McDonalds for dinner - we were starving and it was way past dinner - kids were very hungry and so were we - I had Southwest Grilled Chicken salad, and yes, I ate the tortilla strips that they put on top (and they were good!) I practically licked the bowl clean and was still starving - um, yes, must confess, I ate a few of the kids fries ... and ya know what? they were good too! :)

I know I ate a few more paleo things during the day, but I cannot remember what.

Monday - 9/12
Post WOD - Banana and Coffee
Breakfast - granola with almond milk (options very sparse this morning - out of eggs)
Lunch - Larabar, chicken breast, small salad
Snack - Protein Shake, pecans
Snack - LaraBar
Dinner - Salad topped with Chicken, plus some turkey I had just bought from grocery - it never made it in the fridge - Miles and I ate it straight from the deli bag! :)
Snack - Wine and ??? (still thinking about it)

Amanda 12 Sept Food

Post-Wod: Coffee; Paleo Banana Bread (very yummy....let me know if you want the recipe)
Breakfast: 3 scrambled eggs; 2 pieces bacon; coffee
Snack: Paleo granola
Lunch: handful pepperoni; chicken breast with 1 tbsp mayo, walnuts and cranberries
Snack: another handful paleo granola (I know Dan....I need more protein....I'm trying)
Dinner: leftover beef with homemade taco seasoning over lettuce with avocado, tomato, onions, a spinkling of cheese for flavor and 5 corn chips. I know...really bad...I wasn't prepared well for dinner. Going to grocery tomorrow- that should help.
Snack/dessert: glass o' wine

PS....as I told Chris today... I feel fat, I feel like I've hit a total wall with food, pull ups and just in general. What's wrong with me?? Shouldn't I be feeling really good? Oh AND I dropped my Anatomy Class b/c the amount of additional stress it was causing was making me a very grumpy person....maybe that's why I don't feel good?

PSS....I made cookies with the boys tonight (b/c they begged and were really cute) and no way they would even try paleo cookies...so we had to use real flour, sugar (cane of course) and chocolate chips- just sayin' I didn't lick a morsal but they are seriously annoying me in the kitchen now and they are going to work with Bill tomorrow!

PSSS...I'm done rambling.

Pete's Food Diary for the 12th

Okay, so I have not posted anything since Thursday. I tried to post on Friday, and became very busy at work. I know, there is no excuse, but before I knew it, it was Sunday night... Chris and the kids took precedence, then came projects, then whatever else I could do. I tried very hard to eat Paleo, and I did pretty good. I am going to say that Fri-Sun are a wash, as far as posts. So here is what I have done, thus far for Monday the 12th:

PreWOD: Coffee, banana, handful of nuts and dried fruit. (I know I need more protein.)
PostWOD: Coffee, half of a half eaten banana (thanks Abby!), protein shake.
Breakfast: 2 Hard boiled eggs, sausage link, apple.
Snack1: Nuts and Dried fruit, beef jerky.
Lunch: Leftover bacon wrapped roast, grilled veggies, and carrots.
Snack 2: Remainder of carrots and hummus, jerky, Spark.
Snack3: Mixed nuts with dried fruit
Dinner: Salad with chicken breast on it, with a second chicken breast.
Snack4: Glass of wine and popcorn

Where are Chris and Pete? 9/12/11

One year ago today I was completing my first Ironman race. I know that has nothing to do with this blog, but that was a huge day for me - one I won't soon forget.

Breakfast: 2 eggs scrambled with onion, topped with guacamole, V8
Snack: carrots and hummus
Lunch: B.A.S (Big Arse Salad), spinach, spring mix, hard boiled egg, tomato, cuke, red pepper, avocado, Kalua pork, balsamic dressing (I am so full)!!
Seriously debating on a piece of that dessert I made with a nice cup of coffee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I managed to resist having the dessert, but I did have a BIG cup of coffee with flavored cream.

Snack: Mariani bar
Dinner: Grilled Italian Sausages (2) with sauteed onions and mushrooms, and sauteed eggplant and tomato.

Michele's Lotsa Food - 9/10 and 9/11

OK, so yesterday was a busy day and I didn't even have time to get on here to post. I was up before 5am, out of the house by 5:30am, rode 100 miles with my blind athlete, got home about 5:15pm, showered, dressed and finished making the dessert for the Luau and back out the door by 6:30pm. Home from the Luau about 11pm. Phew, it was a LONG day.

So yesterday's food was a bit off, as I suspected it would be with the bike and the party. But I actually did better than I anticipated.

Breakfast: 1 egg with ham, V8, little bit of coffee
During the bike ride: Being on the bike limits what I can manage to eat, but my Bonk Breaker bar was almond butter and honey. Had some other various gels packs and a Honey Stinger Waffle (aka biker's crack) and a diet coke (weird, I know)
Post ride: We went to Foster's Grill and I had a turkey burger with no bun AND I substituted a salad for the fries (woohoo, score one for Michele), unsweetened ice tea. I finished the coffee on the way home!
At the Luau: I did start the evening with one Blue Hawaiian drink - way too sweet for my palate which now rarely has anything like that. For my meal I had salad, Kalua pig and Lomi-Lomi Salmon (OMG, to die for!!!!). My Hawaiian friend made the pork and the salmon and it was so good I had 2 plates. If you've never had Lomi-Lomi Salmon (which I had not) it was amazing. Raw salmon is salt cured and then mixed with tomatoes and onions. And I finished the evening with a Sam Adams. I did not have any of the dessert I made, although everyone seemed to like it. I have to admit, I did lick the spoon when I was mixing the pudding, cream cheese and pineapple together!!

Today was dog training day.

Breakfast: 2 eggs with ham, V8 and coffee with 1/2 and 1/2
Snack: Mariani bar
Lunch: Salad with spring mix, tomatoes, cukes, avocado, Kalua pork, chicken breast, olive oil and balsamic vinegar
Snack: Mariani bar, chips and salsa

Sitting on the deck with the dogs having a beer! Dinner will probably be leftover Kalua port (we got to bring home a whole tray of it) :-)

Dinner: More Kalua pork with guacamole (the little 100 calorie packs Chris mentioned), sweet potato with butter.

Debating on popcorn or coffee for dessert?

Opted for popcorn!

Amanda 11 Sept Food

Breakfast: Usana Shake with 2 tbsp almond butter; coffee with 1/2 and 1/2
Lunch: After church we always go to the "Firehouse" for subs...so this presented a challenge for me b/c obviously there would be no sub for me. So I got a cup of chili (yes there were beans, I ate around them) and a garden salad topped with tuna. Next time I think I might just skip the salad and do a bigger bowl of chili b/c there was lots of meat and it was pretty filling.
Snack: Uh Sunday Raven's Football...probably requiring 2 Michelob ultras...maybe not, I'll keep you posted:) Yes....Paleo granola and 2 beers.
Dinner: made our HUGE bottom roast from Humble Gourmand in the oven over about 5 hours with sweet potatoes, onions, celery and it was PERFECT! Very yummy and tender....definitely meat I will be able to eat leftover (I have a very weird aversion to leftover beef...which poses a big problem from time to time with paleo:)

Amanda Food 10 Sept

Somehow I got sidetracked yesterday and did not have time to post my food soooo....

Breakfast: coffee with 1/2 and 1/2; usana shake with 2 tbsp peanut butter
Snack: v8
Lunch: leftovers: stew beef with carrots and broccoli
Snack: Almonds
Dinner: (we had a date night)...went to a fun outdoor restaurant but it had terrible food....so not worth the $$ but I had:
Stuffed Shrimp; coleslaw side; vegetable medley (they were frozen vegetable and horrible); side salad with honey mustard; 2 glasses of wine
And I admit that at the movie I had about 5 handfuls of popcorn. Next time we won't even order any...not even sure why we did.

Chris - 9/10/11

OK ... short(ish) and sweet ... Today I played in a KickBall tournament all day and I'm exhausted. Oh yeah, kickball baby ... I'm on the Smoking Guns team and considering I hadn't played kickball since 3rd grade, I did pretty good. :)It wasn't 100 mile bike ride tho'(Michele - glad to see you haven't lost your crazy side!) So besides for Breakfast and Dinner, everything was eaten on the go and what I could pack in my cooler bag.
Breakfast - Eggs with ham, pepers and bacon, coffee
Snack - LaraBar
Lunch - Tuna Packet, Guacamole, and apple - by the way we buy the "Wholly Guacamole" individual serving packets - they are awesome!!!! Pop them in the freezer and they thaw super quick under water. They boast that they are 100 calories, but I don't actually care about that. I have only found them at Harris Teeter recently.
Snack - Spark, LaraBar, mixed nuts with raisins
Dinner - Salad with strawberries, mandarin oranges, sliced almonds, feta and olive oil and balsamic dressing, steak, grilled peppers and zuchinni and grean beans. I was stuffed and couldn't eat all my grean beans.
Snack - It's movie night, so wine and probably air popped popcorn - if our kids would ever fall asleep!!!

Chris - 9/9/11

OK, so after my rambling yesterday, I figured I should ramble a little more ... just kidding!

Post WOD - Coffee, eggs with guacamole and a little cheese, bowl of paleo granola with almond milk
Snack - LaraBar
Snack - Apple (right before lunch)
Lunch - Unsweetened Iced Tea, Decided to go to Wendy's on the way home and pick up a salad, that way I knew I'd get some more veggies in today. Well ... I ordered the pecan apple chicken salad, was starving and excited to get home and actually have a lunch to eat. Sat at the table (tried to be civilized today) and opened it to discover it was covered in MOLD ... yup. Blue Cheese crumbled everywhere. Now, if you like to eat stinky moldy cheese, I'm sure the salad would be wonderful. I tried to pick it off, but it was all over it and the smell made me gag. So, Pete will be eating my lunch for his dinner.
Snack - couple apples slices with Sunbutter (kids gobbled the rest of them before I could grab them) and a couple mini-muffins (which are almost gone and a favorite with all the neighborhood kids!)
Dinner - Huge salad with peppers, cucumbers and avocado, Beef with Curry Pistachio Stuffing amd Broccoli. Check out www.paleobrands.com for some frozen paleo meals. I bought a 5 sampler pack for $30 (free shipping). A little pricey per meal, but it's nice to know that I have something quick I can heat up and have a real paleo meal. My dinner was better than Pete's, in my opinion. He had fish patties with spaghetti squash. The fish just had a little too much dill for my palate. It paired nicely with his moldy salad. ;)
Late night snack - hmmm. not sure yet.

Michele's Food (or lack thereof) - 9 Sep 11

OK, so I did not have that cup of coffee last night, but I did forget to note that I did have 1 real beer and 1 O'Doul's with dinner.

No CFW this morning (is that a surprise after the 10pm dinner last night?) and NO ALARM either. Got out of bed at 8am and had 2 cups of coffee before heading to work. Once I finally got to work it was a little late for breakfast so I opted for carrots with hummus and tzatziki.
Lunch: I brought all my stuff for a nice salad for lunch but was convinced to go out with the goons I work with. We went to Chili's where I had their fajita chicken sandwich with no bread or sauce. Basically a chicken breast with sauteed peppers and guacamole. Came with a salad and fries, and yes I ate those damn fries again. I'm a carb whore AND I'm German, how could I NOT eat them!!! I will do better next time........
Miscellaneous snacks thru the afternoon: Apple, nut/raisin mix and a few sweet potato fries right before I went to the commissary (can't go shopping hungry - that's dangerous)
Dinner: Late dinner again, but not as bad as last night. Grilled chicken with mushrooms and leftover veggies from last night. I also had a salad of spring mix, spinach, cuke, avocado and tomato with olive oil and balsamic vinegar, but I only ate a few bites of it, I was full.
Snack: A few grapes

So not my best Paleo day, but it wasn't terrible.

And now for the disclaimer: Tomorrow I have a 100 mile bike ride then a Luau. I'm making a Hawaiian dessert of yellow cake topped with a cream cheese, heavy cream, pineapple and coconut topping. No, I won't eat any of it. Hoping I have time to make some of that pumpkin bread so I can bring my own dessert to the party.

Amanda's Food 9 Sept

Pre-WOD: (I was starving last night before bed but couldn't find anything I wanted)....so I was still starving when I woke up... Mariani Bar and coffee
PostWOD/Breakfast: 3 eggs scrambled with pico
Lunch (with a friend): Chick fil A 12 pack nuggets (I know....); fruit cup; side cole slaw (which 1/2 way through I determined had sugar in it and stopped eating it). Unsweetened Iced Tea.
Snack: Spark; cashews
Dinner: going to Potomac Point Winery tonight with the girls....so I have mentally rehearsed doing well and have looked at the menu so hoping no one is a bad influence:) I'll keep you posted!

OK so.....I probably had 3-4 glasses of wine over the 4 hour period we were there. I chose the wines with the lowest sugar content. I had a crabcake, asparagus and garden salad with vingerette- so I did well. BUT there was bite size bread and olive oil for dipping and did indulge (oops) in a few small pieces and I ate a bite of my friends Tiramasu. So this is the tricky part for me. Does everyone indulge sometimes or do Paleo people really never indulge?

Chris' Food 'n stuff - September 8th

OK … so today was another stupid food day. I am in a really big funk today, so eating was just something I had to do, not something I cared to think about. I didn’t cheat, but I didn’t eat full meals either. As I’m sitting here, hungry of course, I’m remembering this is what happened last time I went 100% strict. I got hungry and I got mad … mad because I was hungry and mad because I didn’t feel as “great” as I thought I should have been feeling. Oh, and BTW, today’s WOD was horrible. Honest to God, it would have been better for my body to stay in bed and get a little more sleep. Everyday I feel like I’m going slower and slower … one of these days, I’m going to be on the floor doing a burpee and I won’t get up because I will have fallen asleep because of my lack of speed!!! OK, one more complaining note and I'll confess my food – it is HARD being the mom and feeding your kids and managing their little lives and actually having a second to think about what I actually get to eat … argh…. Which is why my day was mostly “junk” paleo. When I say junk, I mean just “grab and survive”.
Pre-WOD/Breakfast – Coffee, bacon, 3 mini-muffins
Snack – Larabar, coffee, turkey jerky (was at Target)
Lunch – Spark, LaraBar, a packet of almond butter (yup, wouldn’t you have liked to see me driving down the road squeezing almond butter out of a little packet and swearing because I can’t get it all out!- classy.), the rest of the bag of Turkey Jerky … yup, ate an entire bag in an hour (waiting in the parking lot to pick Miles up from school – better floss tonight)
Snack – some apple slices (what I could grab out of kids bowls, because it would have been too easy had the kids actually listened to me and come inside for 5 minutes so I could eat something!!)
Snack – carrots and hummus
Snack – a hot dog – oh yea, another classy and gourmet moment.
Snack – half of a LaraBar
Pre-dinner – Cashews and Protein shake
Dinner – leftover night – roast and pineapple (way later than normal dinner – but had to get kids in bed first tonight) – oh sure, if I had energy, I’d make a salad because obviously I need to increase my vegetable intake, but all I want to do is curl up on my bed and go to bed.
When you are trying to eat paleo and are on the go all day, what are some good suggestions to have on hand to eat, besides for “bars”?

Amanda's Food 8 Sept 11

Post WOD: coffee with a little 1/2 and 1/2; 1/2 marini bar and 2 pieces of bacon
Breakfast: more coffee, strawberries, small piece of egg casserole (with bacon and sausage)
Snack: Steve's Original Paleo Crunch Bar (super yummy and big)!
Lunch: 3 scrambled eggs, 1 sausage patty crumbled with mushrooms, onions and pico
Snack: 1 serving Paleo Krunch cereal, 1/4 cup coconut milk, SPARK (thought it was better choice then more coffee:)
Dinner: 2 teriyaki marinated chicken thighs, broccoli and carrots
Dessert: Michelob Ultra (Amber) .... 2

BTW....I haven't seemed to really lose any weight but I have noticed that a pair of pants that had gotten a little tight after the vacation from hell now fit nicely again.....

Pete's Food Diary 8 Sep

PreWOD: Banana, Coffee, handful of nuts and dried fruit.
PostWOD; 3 eggs, scrambled with guacamole and pico de gallo, 3 pieces of bacon, more coffee
Snack1: Paleo Muffins (3), apple and water.
Snack2: 2 slices of ham, 2 slices of turkey
Lunch: Chicken coleslaw, chicken breast, water
Snack3: two handful of nuts and dried fruit, apple, beef jerky, spark
Snack4: LaraBar
Dinner(late): Bacon Rap Roast, 1 slice of pineapple, 1/4 cup of paleo granola and almond milk

Michele's Food Diary - 8 Sep 11

Post CFW: Mariani bar and coffee with cream
Breakfast: 2 eggs scrambled with spinach, onion and tomato; V8, more coffee (it's a rainy morning ok)
Snack: Kale chips and nut/raisin mix
Lunch: Bunless burger, fries (I know) and iced tea
Snack: Mariani bar
Dinner: Well, the PLAN was to make Paleo fajitas......BUT I forgot I had to be in Alexandria at 6pm, then this lovely rain closed roads and it was no small feat to get home. So at 9:30pm I broiled the skirt steak I had been marinating in olive oil, lime juice and chipotle seasoning and sauteed onions, red peppers, zucchini and yellow squash. It turned out pretty good actually. Although eating at after 10:00pm is probably not the best idea!
Still may need a cup of coffee for "dessert".

Sleeping in tomorrow!!
